Why a dream? Because the sense of time is void. It’s the only place where the past, present, and future can co-exist in a whimsical fresh breeze. It’s the perfect place to featuring the underdog of Hmong fashion, Hmong Burma (Myanmar). My collection is introducing this distinctive style of Hmong clothing to the audiences through my artistic interpretation. The look and feel is meant to be like a dream. My dream, that as the audience, you are being walked through it. A collusion of the past, present, and future. It’s beautiful yet, nightmare-ish because being a plus-size woman, stripes, especially horizontal ones are absolutely a personal fashion nightmare. It’s just something I would never wear because it’s not flattering to a bigger person. In addition, multiple colors, and tons of layering.
What is a dream? There is no exact explanation. Dreams are random, odd and unexpected. They can be emotional, personal, and a form of comfort. It can be your brain’s way of experimenting and preparing you for your worst case scenario. While dreams can also be creepy and scary, there are no physical pain. No identity, no order. Time is VOID. It’s just as if you are there watching a movie. This is why my personal collection’s theme of a dream is the perfect concept for what I am trying to achieve in this fashion show
The purpose of this fashion show is to showcase myself. That part of me is where the nightmare comes from. My fashion nightmare turns whimsical. It has been a long dream of mine to do a fashion show. This program through CHAT, Fresh Traditions has allowed me to come full circle with a few of my bucket list items.
Thank you to my sponsors and all the people who made my collection possible.
